The Curiosity Approach
When we first heard of the Curiosity Approach Accreditation we knew that it was a perfect fit for our setting. The Curiosity Approach is inspired by other early years philosophies of education such as Montessori and Reggio. This passion-filled approach steps away from the use of plastic resources and instead embraces the natural world to inspire awe and wonder in the children and encourage their enthusiasm to explore.
Since introducing this approach we have felt a significant shift in the attitude of both the staff and children, with the nursery feeling like a second home more and more each day. The children lead their own play with the support of our qualified teachers who focus on their interests in order to create invitations to play and learn.
Hygge:
The term Hygge (pronounced: ‘Hue-gah’) is a Danish attitude towards life that centers around loving the moment you are in and finding happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Hygge is taking the time each day to be together in a warm and cosy environment where you feel most yourself and at home, which is exactly what we strive to create in Kangaroo Kids.
Our classrooms have been carefully thought out to ensure the children have many ‘cosy corners’ to explore with their friends. In the hustle and bustle of nursery life, sometimes all you need is a little escape to cuddle with your friends, grab a good book and enjoy the moment. We know that when a child feels comfortable and secure they are more focused and their interests in learning will flourish.
